- What
is the role of the Mayor's Commission on Technology?
The Mayor's Commission on Technology (MCOT),
formerly the Mayor's Telecommunications Policy Advisory
Commission (TPAC), is charged with advising
the Mayor and City Council on policies and actions related
to the use and impact of telecommunications and technology
in the City of Philadelphia and the region.
MCOT serves as a catalyst, advisor and information clearinghouse
to enable government, businesses, organizations and citizens
in the city and region to take full advantage of the convergence
of new technologies that are reshaping the way we live
and work.
MCOT will identify, recommend and facilitate initiatives in
the use of technology to transform neighborhoods, improve
education and training, workforce and economic development
and improve overall quality of life standards.
- How
does one become a Commissioner?
All
Commissioners are appointed by the Mayor.
Individuals
wishing to be considered must have the skills and experience
relevant to the work of the Commission, including, but
not limited to: community and business leadership, academic
training, technical expertise, economic development and
workforce preparedness. All nominees must be nominated
by the chief executive officer of their company, or organization,
and complete and submit the required Nomination Form to
the MCOT office for consideration.

and where are the Commissioners meetings held?
Commission
meetings are held in one of the 16th floor conference
rooms at the Municipal Services Building located @ 1401
JFK Boulevard, Philadelphia, PA.
- Can
anyone attend the Commissioners meetings?
Commission
meetings are opened to the public, however, to assist
us in planning appropriately, pre-registration is recommended.

type of projects has the Commission been involved with?
In
an effort to provide an overview of the types of Information
Technology Resources and services that the City has to
offer, the Commission has been involved in the following
