Technical Education &
Workforce Development
Summits

The Mayor's Commission on Technology (MCOT) Technical Education / Workforce Development Summits are in response to Mayor John Street's concern that Philadelphia, like many other metropolitan areas in the nation, has a shortage of skilled and unskilled employees to support high growth in technology-based and related industries.

Our purpose is to galvanize the Philadelphia community to measure where we are, where we need to be, and then to develop responsive strategies.

Our goals are to:

  1. Identify and showcase educational programs in Philadelphia that can deliver to the business community a workforce with the technical skills they require, and
  2. Forge strategic alliances to produce both broad-based and point solutions to fill gaps identified in the City's current array of offerings.
